Weekend/Day Tour to Sicily
Saturday 17 March – Sunday 18 March 2012
(Monday 19 March is a public holiday)

The Malta Geographical Society is pleased to inform members that we are again organising a walk in Sicily. Details about this tour are given below.

Booking is open and is on first-come basis as places are limited. We have done our best to keep the price low. Members are being given a discount. Non-members are welcome.

There is a choice of a 2-day weekend walking tour or a 1-day tour. Departure is on Saturday for both groups. Return same day for the one-day tour and on the morrow for the two-day weekend tour, with an overnight stay in the Ragusa area.

Saturday 17 March 2012

0400 Meet at the Valletta port, Marsa side.
0500 Departure for Pozzallo on Board the Catamaran MV
Jean de la Vallette
0700 Arrival in Pozzallo
0715 Departure by luxury coach for a scenic ride towards Ragusa
0800 Stop in Ragusa for Coffee and Sicilian delicacies (optional)
0845 Departure Ragusa
1030 Arrival at Caltagirone
WALK in the Bosco San Pietro Riserva Naturale
1330 Lunch at Piano San Paolo near Caltagirone: Antipasto, Pasta,
Dessert and Coffee. Free flowing wine and mineral water
1500 Transfer to Caltagirone UNESCO World Heritage site
1530 WALK in the historical centre, including a stop at the world famous Scala Santa Maria.
1630 Free time in Caltagirone where one can visitBourbonic
Prisons (now the Museo Civico)(entrance fee not included in price) orof the many workshopsthe world famous ceramics of Caltagirone.
1715 Short Walk along the Via Romathe public gardens where we will embark on our luxury coach
1745 Departure for hotel in Ragusa
1900 Arrival in Hotel in Ragusa. Day trippers will stay on coach.

1430 Transfer to open air Museo Archaelogico Regionale di Camarina
(optional: entrance EUR 5)
1530 WALK along the coast towards the fishing village of Scoglitti
1700 Departure for Pozzallo
1800 Arrival in Pozzallo
1900 Departure for Malta on board the MV Jean de La Valette.
2100 Arrival in Malta

Weekend 2-day Tour:

Members EUR 275 plus fuel surcharge of EUR 5 each way = Eur 285
Non-Members Eur 285 plus fuel surcharge of EUR 5 each way = Eur 295

Accommodation in room sharing with two adults:
EUR 165 plus fuel surcharge of EUR 5 each way = Eur 175

One-day Tour:

Members EUR 140 plus fuel surcharge of EUR 5 each way = Eur 150
Non-Members Eur 145 plus fuel surcharge of EUR 5 each way = Eur 155
Children (not yet attained their 14 birthday)
EUR 90 plus fuel surcharge of EUR 5 each way = Eur 100

All inclusive includes:
Catamaran trip Malta-Pozzallo-Malta inclusive of all port charges and taxes.
All coach transfers
4 course lunch in Caltagirone on Saturday and 5 course lunch in Marina di Ragusa area on Sunday, inclusive of free flowing wine and mineral water
Accommodation for one night (twin sharing)on half-board basis at superior 3* / 4* hotel in Ragusa area, inclusive of five course dinner inclusive of free flowing wine and mineral water on Saturday and buffet breakfast on Sunday.

This walking tour is being organised by The Malta Geographical Society (MGS) in collaboration with YTC Travel and Go Sicily Properties www.gosicilyproperties.com

In the event of cancellation of the catamaran trip, YTC will refund the full payment made. Travelers must ensure that they have a valid travel document, i.e. an unexpired Malta identity card or an unexpired passport.
The programme may be changed at the discretion of the tour leaders.
